Indian Express, Re-Launched

April 11, 2008

The New Indian Express re-launched today. So I got myself a copy and here’s what I think:

  1. Better newsprint. More readable design.
  2. Okay local/national news.
  3. So-so Editorial. Great Op-ed.
  4. Good sport coverage.
  5. Bad crossword.
  6. Indulge [tabloid] is sweeet – Lots of info on city activity there!

There you go. Now I’m looking forward to reading TOI in Madras! 😀

Amrut has a post up on similar lines. Rather succinct.

TUd stole my words. Every page of the tabloid, and I mean every page apart from the TV channel program guide page, has a hawt babe posing. Not that I am complaining…

Yeah, I did. Heh. Doesn’t bother me, really. 😛

    Lol, exactly. =)

Wow.. IE did impress me.. For the folks who missed – like me.. 😉

    Here’s the epaper –

Wow, It has got a whole new look and feel to it.. Aint too predictable as “The Hindu”..

Yeah, even though its possible flame bait – The Hindu has just grown a bit too much and we need something new, something in d form of “IE”! 🙂

Maybe I shud get myself a copy of the NIE. BTW, the NIE x word is cryptic and solvable. Maybe it doesn’t appear everyday

Yeah, Right!!.. Want some free subscriptions? =P..

But really I love the whole new bold redesign.. I mean its good to see something refreshing.. Cause i’ve read The Hindu like for eternity now.. Tried picking up The DC(!?) when it was launched, but I couldnt somehow get myself to read it..(for obvious reasons) :P..

Well, looks like it’ll be a lil’ tough competition for The Hindu from now on..

Holler! Long time no visit and all.

Yea, IE got itself a revamp. The Bangalore edition of City Express is now called Expresso (imagine!)

And they printed my second article for them! 🙂

(I still think they could have done without the terrible Rakhi Sawant interview :P)

Though the new look and all is cool but I have to agree with TUd and Sagaro. I would have rather liked the old Chennai Express. They have too much of unwanted stuff nowadays. Most of the paper is talking about film actors or TV actors which I find irritating.

What did you think of Dr. K’s Cure for Sanity? (Saturdays in Zeitgeist)

  15. April 30, 2008 6:14 PM

    Yep, figured. 😛

    =) Too much Page 3, I agree!

Umm. I haven’t YET read that column. But now that I know you author it, I’ve had a suitably awkward moment and shall tell you after I catch it this Saturday. 😀
