US of A Farewells

August 28, 2007

No matter how many children of a family travel abroad, US of A specifically, the first times of each are an experience. Every day of the past week is frenzied, lists are made and re-made and finally executed, essentials are triple-checked, excess bought in a heady rush and then discarded, huge half-filled suitcases litter the house, tickets lost and found on D-Day and finally, the Departure Terminal.

Every first-time-farewell sees it’s share of tears and back-thumping, caution and i’m-going-to-US-*jump jump*, running list of security instructions, absolving of all sins previously committed and in the end, though you want to be all brave and shy away, the lone tear on the verge of becoming an outpour. Good times and bad, these. πŸ™‚
