RTFF: The Afters

March 27, 2007

The RTFF is over. Yay! It was awesome, awesome fun! I mean, with good movies, good company, good food and a good rooftop, how could it not be? 😀

We started about an hour behind schedule thanks to the speakers which needed some non-existent pin to be there. Started 7:45 types on saturday eve and it went on till 6 30 sunday morning! 😀 V.sadly, female junta was only 3. And then 1, yours truly, after the first movie. Me being the only girl and all, TUD was extremely sweet and kept asking me if I was okay and need anything! More than me, I guess he felt really bad that no other girls turned up! 😛

Sid’s roof is this awesome place – complete with screens to block light, an asbesto overhead and the absolute perfect place to flop down on mattresses, munch food and watch films. Hee! And fooooood – there was so much of it! Surprisingly, no one ate too much. Why? Three reasons: engaging films, TUD-sponsored Red Bull and vodka. 😛 Where I was sitting was this divider – to the right, earnest film-watchers who kept awake throughout and to the left, everyone slept off around 3, after getting smashed. Topping that list is dear brother, Gapp. TUD & Jump! Where the pics??! 😀

Also a really nice part of the fest were the little discussions that happened after each movie. Suderman and Nandhu really helped carry those forward, given their considerable exposure to films!

We had a nice set of movies lined up, of which two were screened. The other two were spur-of-the-moment decisions at the fest!

Hard Candy (David Slade – 2005)

It’s this brilliant movie with only two people and one place. Kickass script which keeps you looking at the screen all the time, willing the movie to go faster just so you can see what happens next. Watch! 🙂

Blood Simple (Coen Brothers – 1984)

True to its name, there’s blood all over the movie. Thriller with lots of sub-plots intertwining, making it a movie you have to concentrate on to get. Look around for five minutes and look back at the movie, it’ll probably take you another 10 to figure out what’s happening. Another Watch!

Annie Hall (Woody Allen – 1977)

After above-mentioned two movies, this one was refreshing in its lightness and humour. WA is unsurpassed! A romantic comedy, with lots of one-liners and subtle humour. Will keep you entertained!

That Four Letter Word (Sudhish Kamath – 2006)

Yep, I finally caught it after trying for ages! A coming of age movie which keeps you entertained with its young, vibrant and happy feel. Discounting all the shortcomings of a small budget and a first movie, that is! As you watch it, it wraps you in its story, characters and scenarios. At the end of the movie, you feel good, and that’s what matters!

Interspersed with these, we also saw few shorts – Call Centre Movie, Hi Dad (TUD’s!) and the hilarious America America Parody. Trust me, it be brill! 😀 And thanks are due to Syed, for the huge screen, w/o which RTFF would’ve virtually been a fiasco!

Gooooooooooooooot Fun! 😀 Looking foward to more editions!

Don’t you have to thank someone else too? Someone because of whom you were allowed to attend this cool event. Someone who took responsibility of your safety. Someone who took care of you.
