And in celebration, we are going to make flavoured custard w/ slices of apple, banana and chopped cherries. Hee!
Happy Birthday, FreakSpace!
Today was Star Budday. Ergo, mother wanted to go to a temple far from the city again. Slept awfully late last night, so was pretty zomboid this morning and didn’t ask where we were going until half-way into ECR. Which turned out to be Nithya Kalyana Perumal Kovil. Coolly Paati proceeds to explain to me how the main deity of the temple has a legacy of getting married everyday. AND how people who want to get married come there to pray and it works. Birthday is finally over. For the first time in years, I didn’t blow up cash on it. Feels good!
I bummed out at home all day, had semiya paayasam that paati made and generally spent ‘quality time’ with the family.
The family is soofer, I say! On account of budday, I now have a pair of footwear, several new clothes, a 1500-piece jigsaw, much stationery and an organizer(?!). Hee!
The amazing thing was the phone. Really. It KEPT ringing in scary succession and HORDES of people called.
Best friends, people I haven’t spoken to in years, people I’ve met once, people I haven’t met at all - it’s one helluva feeling to know people actually take the effort to make your big day that much more special for you!
V dropped in around 4 and bought me cake and book called The Man Who Loved Numbers! Yay!
So we spent hours talking away, with her intermittently apologizing for not throwing me a surprise party! =) Twit! (Says she’ll save it for my 21st!) Sometime later my sis joins us and is generally divulging life secrets to V, when:
H: Y’know, Suraksha’s good with all this stuff. She helps me out and all!
V: She’s my helper! You can’t take her!
Ended day with family dinner at Sigree and fantabulous food. You MUST, MUST go there and dine sometime. The ambience is perfect except for the lighting which is too bright, but what the heck, the food SO makes up!
Happy Budday to me!

Twas V’s birthday yesterday. (Yes, the ubiquitous best friend!) After much thought and deliberation, I finally concluded that she needed nothing. And since she was anyway a bit low on the high spirits, I thought an early-morning sugar-rush would do her much good. Ergo, I bought her a gift-box of assorted cookies from Cookie-Man.

Written on Dec. 8th.
Day began super-well with family shopping at Citi Centre. So we went happy roaming and I bought new footwear – those ethnic thingums with printed soles! Have always wanted one of those. Want kolhapuri chappals as well, but those I’ll probably buy if and when I go Bombay.
It’s phenomenal. It really is. I scoured the whole of Odyssey and Landmark, the two biggest book-store chains in the city, and neither had a copy of Good-bye, Chunky Rice and just ONE issue of JLA.

November and December suck by way of cash flow. Too little coming in, and too much seeping out.
It’s fascinating to note that, about 90% of my favourite people in the world have their birthdays featuring in these two months. Talk about unfair distribution. And no, you cannot ask me why I didn’t save up the whole year. December’s marginally better, cos my birthday’s sometime in it. (Hint, Hint!) But extremely pointless by way of back-up as it’s pretty much the last in series of favourite people’s. In cash recovery terms though, hee :D. Which again partially frizzles for Jan birthdays. Also must work on my currently super-sucky gift ideas. Argh, Argh!
From Vi’s Lunch Party:

Much fun it was! ![]()
Today was much fun. Since it was effectively last day of college today and tomorrow is good friend Vi’s budday, we girls decided to give her a little surprise in class. So we put enthu and got her this huuuuge 2.5 kg Chocolate Truffle Cake from Hot Breads. Imagine a big, extra-chocolatey, extra-gooey, extra-creamy and extra-spongy cake. And then double it.
Since all of us are fussy little dah’lings, we decided to do none of the smashing-the-cake-in-your-face business. Instead, we just settled for gorging on it quite raucously. I, though, only had this teensy-weensy lil piece, while others were stuffing chunks of cake into their struggling mouths. All cos of this.
Anyway, bought her a bottle of Charlie Gold, since she’d mentioned to me that she liked the fragrance. She was all, ‘Aww, You remembered’! Little joys, I tell you!
Apart from that, today was whole day of wastefulness and running up and down EE block. All for record bona fide. Sheesh. Things haven’t really improved from school, I guess. Upside - got OD for the whole day cos of some CAT and GRE seminar organised by Forese. For which, Mad and I were doing registrations. Apparently. So we sat around and discussed a great many pointless things, listened to some truly ghastly songs on someone’s phone and generally pretended to be very important. Oooh, also saw him a million times today and life was all content! ![]()
